LONDON, W.1.

26th August, 1920.

Sir Robert Hudson has forwarded to me

as Chairman of the British Red Cross Society your

letter to him of the 18th instant asking for information respecting the League of Red Cross Societies.

The League was founded last year, chiefly through the instrumentality of the American Red

Cross Society, and its offices are in Geneva.

Sir David Henderson is the Secretary-General and some thirty National Red Orose Societies, the British

Red Cross Society among them, form the constituent body. The Loague's objects are to unite all Red Cross and similar bodies throughout the world in endeavours to mitigate human suffering and

to carry out the Covenant of the League of Nations

relating to Red Cross work. Its efforts are worthy

of all support, and I have no doubt that the League would welcome the suggestion that the information it

is collecting chould be received from the Colonial Government of Hong Kong.
